Lee Beaty (Co-Founder) 02/06/1923-06/12/2003
Co- Founder of Beaty Garage, was born on February 6 th 1923 in Ringgold, GA. He and his family moved to Cleveland, TN when he was a child. Lee served in World War II in the navy. He and his wife Jessie McFalls married on September 7 th 1946. Lee with only a 5 th grade education had unmatchable mechanical skills which he engineered without any prints a 283 chevrolet powered sand blaster with 2 ten horse power pumps that the company used for 15 years. He also engineered and fabricated for the company a pipe notcher, hoist system, wood splitter and a hydraulic bender. The hydraulic bender is still used today to custom fabricate curved handrails.
Lee would go out on jobs and work even after retirement. Stacy said “I will never forget my grandfather and I driving into our shop parking lot after working 12 hours in July and me being exhausted and watch my grand father go to his garden and work until dark. I guess it was his way of unwinding at the end of a hard day”. “My grandfather, father and I all had first class relationships as fathers, sons and co-workers” he added.
